A small but informative(?) biography of Rob's career to date!

Born on Wednesday 13th February 1974, Robert Peter Williams and his family at that time did not know that one of pop music's greatest stars had been born. Little did they know what life this baby would lead (well as a baby he couldn't do much, but you know what I mean!)

At the grand old age of 3, Robbie showed his true potential and ideas on what he wanted out of future life, yep he performed on stage! Yep he performed on stage in Spain singing 'Summer Nights' from the ever popular musical 'Grease'. (Well, as they say - things can only get better!)

Robbie wasn't the world's best academic, he didn't achieve the near perfect grades that every parent wishes and hopes for from their child, but Robbie didn't mind, he had his mind set on a career in entertainment, the Big Lights were beckoning him! His father was an entertainer, and was the person who inspired him, and encouraged him. You may have noticed his great sense of humour throughout his career, and although the world of comedy wasn't his scene, Robbie became famous in a much bigger fashion.

Robbie was intent on a career in music, and took a chance to reach his goal in life by auditioning for a Boy Band. (Let's hope he didn't have to go through what 'Popstars' contestants had to go through!) Although he was a self-confessed Boy Band hater, the determination to reach his goal meant that he would stop at nothing to achieve success.

Succeeding in this small path of his career, Robbie became a member of a band named Take That (do you remember them!) and he spent 5 years as a member of the most successful ban of the 90's, gaining a fan base of millions around the world. The strain of being in the band started to show after a while, Robbie was not the most popular member of the band, and he wasn't reaching his goals in life. Robbie wanted the fame of a solo career, but many people believed that this was unobtainable, and a career outside of Take That would never happen.

For a short time the quick success and heavy media attention of his career within Take That took it's toll, and Robbie 'lost it' for a short while, also suffering from drug abuse and alcoholism. The media claimed that his career was over. Keyed in with this was the fact that Robbie was fighting the management of Take That to be able to pursue a solo career, which was well publicised at the time.

After 6 months of battling against previous management, Rob won his first battle of his new life, he won his first legal fight. Now he had to straighten out his life and start the fight for his solo career. He managed to sort out his personal problems with alot of help from rehab, family, friends and also the undying support from his fans. The transformation was amazing and Robbie was going to come back in a way that no one would ever imagine.

The solo career was a very big risk for Robbie, if he didn't make it he would most probably never work in the industry again, and all the critics would have been proved right. But Rob was a fighter, with a goal in life and he was going to achieve it no matter what. The release of his first few singles and album didn't go down too well, sales weren't what he expected and his critics were smiling to themselves, but that was soon to change when in 1997 the single 'Angels' was released. This was the turning point, the single that never seemed to leave the charts for that year catapulted a career for Robbie that he had only dreamed about.

The musical story of Robbie carries on to this day with numerous no 1's under his belt, outstanding album sales and a fan base that he will never lose, his musical goal reached. Robbie has now set himself different goals. He wants the fame of acting, showing aspirations of wanting to be the next James Bond, Robbie has also made a small movie called 'Rob by Nature'. The big screen is beckoning for this talented individual.
